Beau temps, incroyable cette longue période de beau temps en octobre. Grand ménage, aspirateur, rangement … Et en plus Jens se met sous la voiture pour réparer un tube du pot d’échappement, un autre pas le même qu’en venant. Et, dernière chose à faire, nous mettons la grande bâche sur Hera II. Quel travail ! Et en plus, elle est trop grande, il n’y avait pas la bonne taille, donc il faut la replier et c’est raide et lourd. Pour bien la fixer, nous mettons une grosse corde bleue tout autour. Voilà, Hera II est prête pour l’hiver. Bye, bye Hera II. Il est 13 h 30 quand nous partons et, premier arrêt bien mérité, la grande plage. Bien que ce vendredi soit férié (Jour du Non) et donc que les Grecs aient un long week-end, il y a peu de monde. Mais nous, nous en profitons bien : bain de soleil et plusieurs fois dans l’eau. Nous mangeons même le lunch sur la plage, Jens prépare un plateau dans la voiture, et c’est beau et bon. Nous partons vers 16 h 30 et conduisons vers Igoumenitsa où nous allons prendre le ferry pour Ancona, en Italie. La route longe la côte, nous passons près de Parga et traversons Plataria, le village au grand port où nous étions le long du quai. Beaux paysages, montagneux et boisés, puis près de Igoumenitsa, plat et humide. Igoumenitsa est un grand port de ferries vers plusieurs ports d’Italie et Corfou. Nous faisons les cartes d’embarquement et passons tout de suite sur le quai. Nous n’avons pas le temps d’aller en ville. La fouille est sérieuse, surtout des camions. Même nous, nous devons ouvrir tous les coffres et la malle arrière. Ils craignent que des émigrés illégaux essaient de passer en Italie. Nous embarquons et, même situation que sur le ferry de Sifnos, un employé hurle et s’énerve pour diriger les voitures. Et pourtant il n’est pas grec, il est italien. Le bateau s’appelle « Venezia » et la compagnie Grimaldi est italienne. De nombreux camions prennent ce ferry, cela leur évite plusieurs centaines de km. Nous dinons de poissons et légumes, sinon c’est frites, riz ou spaghettis. Nous sortons sur le pont, il fait nuit mais nous voyons bien Corfou-ville, le passage étroit entre Corfou et l’Albanie et Saranda. La mer est calme et le ferry ne bouge pas du tout.

Beautiful weather, incredible this long period of good weather in October. Big cleaning, vacuuming, tidying up… And in addition Jens gets under the car to repair an exhaust pipe, another one not the same as when we drove down. And, last thing to do, we put the big tarp on Hera II. What a work ! And besides, it's too big, they didn’t have the right size, so we have to fold it up and it's stiff and heavy. To fix it well, we put a big blue rope around it. Voila, Hera II is ready for winter. Bye, bye Hera II. It is 1:30 p.m. when we leave and, first well-deserved stop, the large beach. Although this Friday is a public holiday (No Day) and therefore the Greeks have a long weekend, there are few people. But we take advantage of it: sunbathing and several times in the water. We even eat lunch on the beach, Jens prepares a tray in the car, and it's beautiful and good. We leave around 4:30 p.m. and drive to Igoumenitsa where we will take the ferry to Ancona, Italy. The road runs along the coast, we pass near Parga and cross Plataria, the village with the large port where we were along the quay. Beautiful landscapes, mountainous and wooded, then near Igoumenitsa, flat and wet. Igoumenitsa is a major ferry port to several ports in Italy and Corfu. We do the boarding passes and go straight to the quay. We don't have time to go to the town. The control is serious, especially trucks. Even we have to open all our boxes and the trunk. They fear that illegal emigrants will try to cross into Italy. We board and, same situation as on the Sifnos ferry, an employee screams and gets angry to direct the cars. And yet he is not Greek, he is Italian. The boat is called “Venezia” and the Grimaldi company is Italian. Many trucks take this ferry, it saves them several hundred km driving. We dine on fish and vegetables, otherwise it's fries, rice or spaghetti. We go out on the bridge, it is dark but we can see Corfu-city, the narrow passage between Corfu and Albania and Saranda. The sea is calm and the ferry does not move at all.
