bonne heure.
Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October 2022
After ten very pleasant days in Sifnos, we take the
ferry to Piraeus all together, that is to say the family, on Saturday 15.
Arrived in Piraeus, we say our goodbyes, they take the plane tomorrow to return
in Norway, as we take the road immediately to Preveza. Leaving Piraeus at 3.30
p.m. we arrive in Preveza at 8 p.m. We go to the wharf and find Hera II .
Trygve, the co-owner who had the boat before us welcomes us and we go to dinner
together at our favorite taverna. He sailed with two friends who left
yesterday. We are talking boat, of course, and Trygve impresses us with an
account of an eventful crossing, about fifteen years ago, from New York to the
Bahamas, with his wife and two young children. The three of us sleep on Hera
II, he has the cabin back and we have the cabin in front.
On Sunday, Jens drives Trygve to the bus station, he
takes the bus at 9:15 a.m. to Athens. We re-acquaint ourselves with Hera II
which we find clean and tidy, thanks to Trygve. We settle down and go empty the
car, we even take the bikes. Then a few errands at a small shop open on Sundays
and off we go. This time we are going north, our goal is Albania. We must
explain to you that Hera II, being Norwegian, must leave the European Union
every 18 months. And the time has come to do it; by going to Albania we leave
the EU. The weather is nice, sun, flat sea and no wind. We motor and arrive
in Lakka Bay on Paxos at 6.30pm. Very pretty bay, crowded in summer but still
roomy in October. Dinner on the
boat and bedtime early.
