Les cloches sonnent à l’église à 8 h 30 et un prêtre psalmodie longtemps, nous l’entendons bien parce que c’est diffusé par haut-parleur. Il ne fait que 12 ˚ ce matin mais le soleil chauffe vite. Jens va acheter du pain frais et après un bon petit-déjeuner nous partons en vélo vers l’autre côté de la baie. Luxe des luxes, il y a une piste cyclable. Plataria est animée ce matin, de nombreux Grecs viennent passer la journée à la plage et les cafés sont presque pleins. Les Optimistes essayent de naviguer, mais le vent est absent et une régate est organisée pour les adultes. Nous partons à 11 h 20, au moteur. La première heure sans vent puis le vent se lève, force 3-4 du nord. Nous essayons d’aller ancrer pour le lunch derrière un ilot recommandé dans le guide comme une bonne place, mais les vagues y rentrent et cela bouge trop. Nous repartons, sous foc et déjeunons en route. Juste avec le foc, Hera II va à 5 nœuds, parfois plus. Bon moment de voile. Nous allons ancrer à Ormos Valtou, et, non, je ne radote pas. La baie déserte où nous étions il y a deux jours s’appelait aussi Ormos Valtou. Mais cette nouvelle Ormos Valtou est tout près de Varga, une grande station balnéaire. La baie est ouverte au sud, donc bien protégée du vent du nord. Et de tout façon, le vent tombe en soirée. Deux voiliers y sont déjà ancrés dont un Hallberg-Rassy (Hera II est un H-R) de 38 pieds. L’ancre accroche bien. Baignade, Jens nage jusqu’au H-R et parle avec les propriétaires qui sont anglais. Leur bateau s’appelle Freyja, une déesse dans l’ancienne mythologie nordique. Hera était aussi une déesse, mais des anciens Grecs. On est en bonne compagnie. Soirée tranquille au bateau, nous n’allons pas à terre, nous irons demain.

The bells ring in the church at 8:30 a.m. and a priest
is chanting for a long time, we can hear it well because it is broadcast by
loudspeaker. It's only 12˚ this morning but the sun is heating up fast. Jens
goes to buy some fresh bread and after a good breakfast we cycle to the other
side of the bay. Luxury of luxuries, there is a bike path. Plataria is lively
this morning, many Greeks come to spend the day at the beach and the cafes are
almost full. The Optimists try to sail, but the wind is off and a regatta is
organized for the adults. We leave at 11:20 a.m., under motor. The first hour
without wind then the wind picks up, force 3-4 from the north. We try to anchor
for lunch behind a small island recommended in the guide as a good place, but
the waves come in and it moves too much. We leave, under jib and have lunch en
route. Just with the jib, Hera II goes at 5 knots, sometimes more. Good time
sailing. We're going to anchor at Ormos Valtou, and, no, I'm not rambling. The
deserted bay where we were two days ago was also called Ormos Valtou. But this
new Ormos Valtou is very close to Varga, a large seaside resort. The bay is
open to the south, therefore well protected from the north wind. And anyway,
the wind drops in the evening. Two sailboats are already anchored there,
including a 38-foot Hallberg-Rassy (Hera II is an H-R). The anchor holds well.
Swimming, Jens swims to the H-R and speaks with the owners who are English.
Their yacht is called Freyja, a goddess in the old nordic mythology. Hera is
also a goddess, but of the ancient Greeks. We are in good company. Quiet
evening at the boat, we are not going ashore, we will go tomorrow.
